Qualifying Conditions:

You can seek medical cannabis as a treatment option if suffer from one of the following qualifying conditions in Maryland:

  • Cachexia

  • Anorexia

  • Wasting Syndrome

  • Severe pain and/or nausea

  • Seizures

  • Severe or persistent muscle spasms

  • Glaucoma

  • Post-Traumatic

 

Who is Eligible?

Any Maryland resident whose certified provider recommends medical cannabis as an alternative treatment option for a qualifying medical condition is eligible to register with the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission (MMCC) as a patient.

Non-Maryland residents are not eligible to register for the Maryland medical cannabis program at this time.


 

Steps to Receive Medical Cannabis

Medical Cannabis Step 1: Register with MMCC for Patient ID and Card

1. Register with MMCC to Obtain Patient ID & card

Register with the MMCC to receive a patient ID and card. Upon registering you will receive your patient ID from the state. A patient ID is needed to reserve an appointment with a registered provider in Maryland.

Medical Cannabis Step 2: Provider Consultation

2. Provider Consultation

Meet with a certifying provider who will evaluate and consult with you to gain an understanding of your current ailments. Be sure to bring your medical records to your consultation. For more information on what records are required, contact the consulting provider’s office prior to your visit.

Medical Cannabis Step 3: Purchase your medical cannabis

3. Purchase Medicine!

If approved by the provider, you will receive a medical cannabis certification approval, allowing you to purchase medical cannabis. Prior to April 1, 2019, you must provide a government issued ID when visiting a Maryland dispensary. Effective April 1, 2019, patients must provide a Maryland Medical Cannabis Card to receive medicine.

Schedule an appointment with us to receive step-by-step assistance to sign up with the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission (MMCC). This is the first step in becoming a medical cannabis patient!

 
What you will need to bring with you on your visit:

  • An electronic copy of the front and back of your government photo ID AND either (1) proof of Maryland address or (2) name and address of the Maryland medical facility where the patient is being treated.

    (We can take care of taking photos of your ID!)

  • The last four digits of the patient’s SSN

  • An electronic copy of a current passport-style photo

    (We can take care of this for you as well!)

  • A valid, accessible email address. (If you do NOT have an accessible email address you will not be able to receive your patient ID number from the MMCC.)

  • $50 on a debit or credit card which will be used as a processed payment to the MMCC for your application submission.

 
What to expect after applying?
After applying with the MMCC you should expect a response with the status of your application in 30–45 days.
Once approved you will be issued an ID card from the MMCC. You will then visit a certified physician who can recommend you access to the state’s medical cannabis program.
